The musem Marmottan Monet

Photo

In the year 1966, when Michel Monet, the painter’s only heir died, the collection of paintings was bequeathed to the museum Marmottan. Jacques Carlu, its actual keeper, organised the construction of a room inspired by the great decorations of the "Orangerie des Tuileries’’ to welcome them.

The museum Marmottan Monet also presents the most important collection of works by Claude Monet, with the famous ‘’Impression Soleil Levant’’, from 1873, which gave its name to Impressionism, and also numerous works of Giverny.
